Over the Shoulder: Wednesday

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Over the Shoulder looks at the previous day:

Charlie Weis and Notre Dame are an embarrassment to the BCS. Losing 41-14 is bad but doing it after the whining Weis did earlier in the year is priceless. In fact, no team in the top 20 received as much hype and was as poor as the Fighting [...]

Notre Dame Escapes Sugar Bowl With Loss

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Tradition, excellence, and football glory; makes you think of Boise Sate doesn’t it. It certainly isn’t present at Notre Dame and last night’s 41-14 street beating administered by LSU does irreparable harm to the image of the mighty Irish. Universal Medical Systems, Inc., a Cleveland-based “computer imaging company” has claimed that 35 baseballs from 1998 were tested and found to have a larger rubberized core.
The balls in question include Mark McGwire’s 70th home run ball - a record made worthless by Barry Bonds’ 73 bombs in 2001.
Bud Selig denies this claim, reporting his balls [...]

Clemson Should Fire Tommy Bowden

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

One college coach, other than Charlie Weis, constantly under-performing is Clemson Head Coach Tommy Bowden. It seems his sole goal is to gain bowl eligibility and point to that as a sign of success. There’s a problem with that philosophy; more than half of NCAA Division 1 schools participate in bowl games. It’s not an [...]
