The World Number 1 has pulled out from the 3rd Grand Slam event of the season. Rafa was forced by his already famous knee problems to quit playing at the All England Club this year. The decision could be very important as Nadal risks to lose the ATP crown in front of its arch rival Roger Federer.
Nadal made the shocking announcement on Friday. He traveled earlier in the week to London and even played 2 exhibition matches against Leyton Hewitt and Stanislas Wawrinka before deciding not to compete in this year's event. The Spaniard will continue to follow a serious recovery schedule and pursue his main goal left for this season, the US Open title.
The former World Number 1 needs to win the Wimbledon 09 in order to reclaim the top spot lost almost an year ago.More drama is added to this year's Wimbledon tournament as local favorite Andy Murray is credited with the 2nd chance to lift the Men's Singles title. Murray will become World No.1 too if he will manage to be the first Brit since 1936 that triumphs at the All England Club.
The Wimbledon Championship has started today and will end on July 05. Watch online and see if Murray will be able to stop Federer, or we will have a surprise winner this year!"
