In the evening played in Connecticut (United estodo), the American champion Chad Dawson seproclamó interim medium-weight category WBC points after a dominant unanimous decision 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 in the rematch against the veteran Jamaican Glen Johnson 40 years. Dawson remained unbeaten in his 27 years increasing his record to (29-0, 17 KOs), while Johnson to 40 years passes (49-13-2, 33 KO's). On the same evening the Mexican Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo won the interim belt after the WBO middleweight knockout in the third assault on the U.S. Harry Joe Yorgey, Mexican clearly dominated the match and gave no option to the U.S., including nearly knocking him out in the second assault after him down twice.
After gaining the title interim Angle will face the defending champion of the WBO middleweight Russian Sergei Dzindziruk.
